Celebrating Equality with Cleaner Beauty for All

What is Women’s Equality Day?

Women’s Equality Day commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote and the power advocate for themselves, their families and their communities.

The 19th Amendment was a huge success for suffragettes of the time. Inspiring women such as Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lucretia Mott, and Susan B. Anthony, lead the charge for women’s rights over decades. According to the National Women’s History Project, these gains at the ballot box “culminated a 72-year, non-violent campaign to extend the right to vote to women, as symbol of the continued fight for equal rights.”

Women’s Equality & Beauty

Today, we applaud our progress and the accomplishments of our forebears, but know that our work is far from done.

We believe it’s our duty as a woman-owned business to advocate for better health standards in the beauty industry. After all, beauty products are primarily marketed to and used by women. Safe beauty is a women’s issue.

The bad news: While OSEA is committed to safe, non-toxic, natural ingredients, there are still many products on the market with toxic ingredients that are harmful to our health.

The good news: We can use our voice to change the skincare and beauty industry for the better.

Taking Action

Did you know the United States has not improved its laws governing ingredient safety in cosmetics and skincare since 1938?

We think it’s time for an update.

That’s why we’re visiting Washington, D.C. next month with our friends at Beautycounter to effect meaningful change in the beauty industry for the health of women and their families.

Our goal in D.C. is to honor our company’s founding mission of creating quality, non-toxic skincare. We will work with like-minded beauty businesses to advocate for cleaner beauty standards for all. And we can’t wait to get started!

Get Involved

If you care about clean beauty as much as we do, we’d love your help.

Our collective voices can make a lasting impact!
